Calvin

Calvin

April 24, 2004 to August 2, 2016

Calvin was born on April 24, 2004 to a Modesto breeder who had bred the hairless cat in Austin Power's movies named Ted Nudegent, but played the character Mr. Bigglesworth. Calvin was related to that famous Sphynx as they had the same parents. Calvin came from a Sphynx line, but in some sort of "throwback" from the hairless, ended up with 4" fuzz. He was always a character. He came into our home at the age of about 6 months, and we also had a Hobbes - Border Collie Mix at the time. So we had Calvin & Hobbes. We also had a Dandie Dinmont Terrier Mix named Monty, who is also featured on this site. We adopted two more purebred Dandie Dinmonts through the years, and since Calvin loved them all, he has found an honorary place among Dandies here. Calvin also accepted his real life brother, Linus, in 2005, and they played and loved on each for two years, before Linus was taken from us, tragically. Calvin visibly grieved for his brother.

Calvin was diagnosed with diabetes about two years ago, in 2014. He had been ill for several months, and by the time we found a good vet, he was treated with insulin shots, and lots and lots of TLC. He finally lost the battle on August 2, 2016 when the diabetes had become too much for his embattled body to bear any longer. He left a huge hole in our hearts. We will always remember Calvin, who loved to stay in our laps for long periods of time and loved everyone.

Linus, Calvin's real life brother. He was born on August 15, 2005. Linus loved the Dandies, too, and taught them that cats are okay.
